Use an address with a clear owner
The email entered in a booking process should belong to someone who can read and act on the messages it receives. Before submitting a request, decide who will monitor that address and how confirmed information will reach the travellers. Avoid choosing an account simply because it is already filled into a browser.
If a relative is organising the journey, distinguish their booking role from the lead traveller’s practical contact details. A usable email address does not replace the need for a contact who can respond during travel.
Check access before departure
Ask the organiser to verify that they can open the account on the device they intend to use. If another person needs the journey details, share the relevant confirmation through an appropriate method rather than distributing the email password. Keep account recovery and verification information under the account owner’s control.
For a shared family mailbox, agree who is responsible for responding. Several people reading the same message can lead to either duplicate replies or the assumption that someone else has handled it. A named organiser keeps that responsibility visible.
Keep corrections inside the booking process
If the wrong address was submitted, use the provider’s actual correction or account process. Do not create another booking just to obtain a confirmation at a different address unless that is the instructed solution. Explain the affected reference so the original record can be identified.
After a change, check where future updates will be sent and ensure that the travelling contact has the current instructions. An email forwarded by a relative may be useful, but it should not disguise an unresolved contact error in the booking itself.
The best address is not necessarily the traveller’s personal inbox. It is the one used deliberately within a clear communication plan, with the organiser able to receive updates and the traveller able to act on the relevant information.
