The right Makkah hotel address for taxi bookings is the property named on your hotel confirmation, at the street address the hotel itself gives you, with a map pin you have checked against both. If the name and the pin disagree, do not pick whichever looks more familiar. Ask the hotel to confirm which building you are booked into, then search for the transfer using that building and read the route summary before you pay. It takes ten minutes at home and saves a driver arriving at the wrong tower.
This guide is for the family organiser booking an airport transfer or an intercity journey to a hotel in Makkah or Madinah, often from abroad and often for parents. It explains why names and pins drift apart, what a good hotel confirmation should show, how the Saudi National Address can help, how to read the route summary as a check, what to put in the booking notes, and what to do if you discover a mistake after booking. A worked example and a checklist follow.

Why a hotel name and a map pin drift apart
Map pins feel precise, which is why a wrong one is persuasive. In practice, a pin and a name part company for ordinary reasons.
- Large complexes. Some hotels near the Haram sit in multi-tower developments. A pin dropped on the complex, or on its best-known tower, may not be your tower.
- Similar names. A brand name, a tower name and a complex name can all appear in the same booking. Someone shortens it, and the short version matches a different building.
- Old pins. A pin saved from a previous trip, or from a hotel the family looked at and did not book, can survive in a group chat for months.
- Pins on the wrong feature. Some pins mark the middle of a building, a car park or a shop rather than the hotel’s own entrance.
- Renamed properties. A hotel can change operator or name. An older listing may still show the previous name.
None of this is anyone’s fault. It is simply why the pin should be treated as a claim to check, not as the answer.
What the hotel confirmation should show
Start with the hotel’s own confirmation, from the hotel or from the agent who booked it. A useful confirmation shows:
- the full property name, including any tower or wing name;
- the street address, with district and city;
- the check-in and check-out dates;
- a confirmation number;
- a contact phone number or email for the property.
If any of these is missing, ask for it before you book transport. If the confirmation names a complex but not the building, ask which tower the reservation is in. If a relative booked the hotel, ask them to forward the confirmation itself rather than a summary.
Where the hotel has one, ask for its Saudi National Address. Saudi Post describes the National Address as a precise addressing system with a building number, street, district, postal code, city and a secondary number that represents the location coordinates, and a short address made of four letters and four numbers. It says the system covers every area of Saudi Arabia to an accuracy of one square metre, and that the street element represents the location of the building’s main entrance. A hotel that gives you its National Address has given you something much firmer than a pin forwarded through three phones.
What to do when the hotel name and map pin do not match
When the hotel name and map pin do not match, work through the question in this order.
Four steps to settle it
- Put the two side by side. Open the pin and read the name the map gives for that point. Then read the name on the confirmation. Write both down.
- Check the address. Compare the street and district on the confirmation with the area around the pin. If they are in different districts, the pin is almost certainly wrong.
- Ask the hotel. Send one short message: “Our confirmation number is X for these dates. Please confirm the full name, address and location of the building we are booked into.” Ask them to reply in writing.
- Replace the pin. Once the hotel replies, delete or clearly label the old pin in the family chat so no one opens it later.
Keep the answer in writing
A phone call that settles the question is useful, but ask for the same answer by email or message so that the next person to book a journey can see it. If the hotel does not reply, ask the agent who made the booking. Do not book transport to either version until one of them confirms.
| What you notice | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Pin name is similar but not identical | Sister property or another tower | Ask the hotel which building you are in |
| Pin is in a different district from the address | Old or wrong pin | Discard the pin and use the confirmed address |
| Pin lands on a car park or shop | Pin on the wrong feature | Use the hotel name and address; note the entrance issue |
| Map shows an older hotel name | Property renamed | Confirm the current name with the hotel |
| Two relatives send two different pins | One is from a different booking | Check both against the confirmation number |
Makkah hotel address for taxi bookings: how the search handles it
When you book with Pilgrim Taxi, each journey has one pickup place and one destination. Some places appear in the planner as popular locations, such as the Clock Royal Tower (Fairmont Hotel) and the Hilton Hotel and Convention Jabal Omar in Makkah, or the Madinah Hilton. Any other place is typed, and you must check it in the route summary.
That check is the most useful thing you can do. Before you pay, read the destination as the planner has resolved it. Does it show the name you meant? Is it in the right part of the city? Does the distance look reasonable for the journey?
Distances give a rough sense check. In our live route checks, the drive from Jeddah Airport to central Makkah was about 94 to 97 km. If your Makkah hotel shows a very different figure from Jeddah Airport, something may be wrong with the destination. The reverse is also true of short distances: the Clock Tower to the Hilton Jabal Omar was only about 1.5 km, so two plausible hotels can sit close together. A wrong pin nearby will not show up as an odd distance, which is why the name and address check comes first.
Getting the Makkah hotel address for taxi journeys right at this stage matters because of how changes work later. Only the pickup time can be changed online. The destination cannot. If the wrong building goes into a paid booking, correcting it needs the booking team, or a new booking plus a cancellation request.
When the hotel is the pickup, not the destination
Most families think about the hotel address on the way in. It matters just as much on the way out, when the hotel is the pickup place for the intercity journey or the drive back to the airport. On those journeys the driver comes to you, so the building in the booking decides where the car goes first.
Check the pickup the same way
Use the same Makkah hotel address for taxi pickups as you confirmed for the arrival, unless the family has moved. Type it, read the resolved place in the route summary, and compare it with the confirmation. If the family has changed hotel during the stay, the pickup is the new hotel, and that is a different journey from the one you may have searched weeks earlier.
Waiting and the lead traveller
Each vehicle class has an included waiting allowance, but it is not currently shown on search results. If the party will need time to bring bags down from a high floor, ask the booking team to confirm the waiting arrangement in writing. Put the lead traveller’s name and number in the notes, and make sure that person is ready with the bags at the agreed time. Hotel reception can help with directions inside the building, but it cannot see or change your booking.
Apartments and private rentals
A serviced apartment or private rental raises the same question in a harder form, because there may be no reception, no sign and no confirmation from a hotel system. Ask the host for the exact building, the street address, the National Address if they have it, and a contact number that will be answered on arrival. If the keys are collected somewhere else first, that is a stop with its own address; our note on apartment keys held at another address explains how to plan it.
Do not choose a nearby hotel in the search just to get past the destination field. That creates a journey to the wrong place, and the destination cannot be changed online once paid.
Checking a Madinah hotel location before a transfer
Checking a Madinah hotel location before a transfer follows the same steps, and matters just as much, because the journeys into Madinah are often long ones.
In our route checks, Madinah Airport to the Madinah Hilton was about 20 km, while Jeddah Airport to the Madinah Hilton was about 397 km and Makkah to Madinah about 439 km. When a family travels from Makkah to Madinah, the destination is at the end of a long day. A driver who arrives at the wrong hotel after that journey, with tired passengers, costs everyone time.
Use the Madinah hotel’s confirmation, ask for the full building name and address, and compare the pin with the district. If you are starting the trip in Madinah, our page on beginning your plan in Madinah sets out the usual journeys.
Branches, towers and entrances: three different questions
Families often run three questions together. They are easier to answer separately.
Which property? This is about the booking itself. If a hotel brand has more than one property in the same city, the confirmation number decides which one you are in. Our note on a hotel change within the same brand covers what to do if the hotel moves you to another branch.
Which building? Within a complex, the tower or wing name identifies your building. It belongs in the destination and in the booking notes.
Which entrance? This is about where you meet the car, and it is decided on the day. We cannot promise where a vehicle may stop at a hotel or near the Haram, which entrance will be usable, or how frontage rules apply at a given time. Write any entrance the hotel recommends in the notes as information, then agree a meeting point with the driver and send a live location when you are ready.
Our note on what a map screenshot cannot show explains why a picture of a street does not answer the entrance question.
What to write in the booking notes
The destination field identifies the place. The booking notes help the driver find the building and the people. Keep them short and factual.
A good note for a hotel pickup or drop-off looks like this:
Hotel: full name including tower. Address as on the hotel confirmation. Hotel phone number. Lead traveller name as on passport. Two older travellers, one uses a walking stick.
Add the Arabic form of the hotel name if the hotel has supplied it in writing. Do not create it yourself with a translation app, because a translated brand name may not match what is on the building. Our note on keeping one destination record in two languages explains how to pair the English and Arabic names.
Avoid instructions the driver cannot act on, such as “the usual entrance” or “the one near the big mall”. If the hotel has given a specific arrival instruction, quote it and say it came from the hotel.
If the hotel is not yet confirmed
Sometimes the name and pin disagree because the hotel is still undecided. In that case the answer is not to choose one for the transfer booking.
You can still run a search with a representative hotel in the right area to see which vehicles fit the party and luggage. But pay only when the real hotel is fixed, because the destination cannot be changed online after payment and bookings are subject to our cancellation terms (free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before pickup; inside 48 hours the deposit element of the price is kept) if the customer cancels. Our guide to getting a transfer quote before the hotel is booked sets out how to estimate without committing.
If a family is split across two hotels, each hotel needs its own confirmed address. Our guide to a family staying in different hotels covers whether one journey with two drop-offs or two separate journeys suits you better.
If you discover the mistake after booking
It happens. The right response depends on whether the booking is paid and what is wrong.
- Not yet paid. Change the destination in the search, check the route summary again, and continue.
- Paid, and the building is wrong. Contact the booking team with the booking reference, the destination as booked and the correct address from the hotel. Do not press “Request cancellation or refund” first. Bookings are subject to our cancellation terms (free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before pickup; inside 48 hours the deposit element of the price is kept) if the customer cancels, and a full refund for the affected journey applies if we or the transport partner cancel or cannot supply the journey. The full terms are in our cancellation and refund policy.
- Paid, and only the entrance is unclear. This is not a destination change. Add the information by contacting the booking team, and agree the meeting point on the day.
Online bookings need at least 48 hours’ notice before pickup, so the earlier you check, the more options you have.
Worked example: two towers, one complex
Bilal Ahmed in Birmingham is booking a transfer from Jeddah Airport to Makkah for his parents, Tariq and Nasreen. His sister made the hotel booking through an agent and sent a map pin in the family chat.
Bilal types the hotel name into the Pilgrim Taxi search and notices the planner resolves it to a tower whose name differs by one word from the name in his sister’s message. The pin in the chat points to a third place: the centre of the complex.
He asks his sister for the agent’s confirmation. It names the complex, the tower and a street address, with a confirmation number. He sends the hotel a short message quoting the confirmation number and asking for the building’s full name, address and National Address. The hotel replies the next day with all three.
The tower on the confirmation is the one the planner had found, not the one in the chat. Bilal books the journey to that tower, checks the route summary, and writes the full tower name, the address and the hotel’s phone number in the booking notes. He deletes the old pin from the chat and posts the hotel’s reply in its place. He tells his parents the booking is fixed only when the account shows Confirmed, which the booking team updates within 1 to 12 hours of payment.
Makkah hotel address checklist before you pay
- Get the hotel confirmation itself, with full name, tower, street address and confirmation number.
- Ask the hotel for its National Address if it has one, in writing.
- Compare any map pin with the confirmed name and district. Discard pins that do not match.
- Type the hotel into the search and read the resolved destination in the route summary.
- Check that the distance looks sensible for the journey.
- Write the full name, address, hotel phone number and lead traveller in the booking notes.
- Treat entrances as information for the day, not as a promise; plan to agree a meeting point and share a live location.
- Remove old pins and old names from the family chat.
- Pay only when the hotel is confirmed, at least 48 hours before pickup.
- Wait for Confirmed in your account before telling the travellers.
Once the hotel is settled, the booking is straightforward. Open the Pilgrim Taxi ride finder, type the confirmed hotel as your destination, and read the route summary before you choose a vehicle.
